Firstly we had a session on mindfulness. Mindfulness meditation is an adaptation of Buddhist Vipassana meditation by which one learns to be mindful "the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one's attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment. Mindfulness meditation can become "a mental position for being able to separate a given experience from an associated emotion, and can facilitate a skillful or mindful response to a given situation". Samantha led the session by firstly asking us to lay down in our own space on the floor. Following this, with Samantha's guidance we relaxed ourselves in to a mediative state focusing on different types of tension. Tension from our feet up to our head. We then focused on releasing the tension and having an awareness of were we found our centres. Weirdly enough all our centres came from our stomach … which upon reading I found that it means we are grounded performers and produce an honest performance when on stage.
Signing off for now
